Privacy Notice

Effective 2 October 2026

This notice explains how eKad collects and uses your personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

Data we collect

  • Hosts: name, email, password (stored hashed), Google sign-in if chosen, and plan payment details (processed by the payment gateway; we do not store card numbers).
  • Card content: the couple's and family names, date, venue, photos, music, salam kaut QR and the account numbers you choose to show.
  • Guests: names and phone numbers entered by the Host, RSVP answers, number of people, wishes, and a display name for the "Who's coming?" board if the guest agrees.
  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and card-open records, for security, spam prevention and simple statistics for the Host.
  • Essential cookies only: login session and language choice.

Purposes

  • Providing cards, RSVP, QR check-in and notifications.
  • Managing accounts, plans and payments.
  • Security, abuse prevention and legal compliance.
  • Improving the service using aggregated statistics.

We do not sell personal data and do not use guest data for our own marketing.

Disclosure

We share data only with providers that help us run the service (server hosting, email delivery, payment gateway), with authorities where the law requires, and with Hosts for the guest data of their own events. Data may be stored on servers in or outside Malaysia with equivalent protection.

Retention

Card data is kept while the card is live and for your plan's retention period, then deleted. Payment records are kept for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

  • Ask for access to and a copy of your personal data.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Withdraw consent, for example for the "Who's coming?" board or notifications.
  • Ask for your data to be deleted. Guests can ask through the Host or contact us directly.

Security

We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, access controls and backups to protect data. Personal guest links use random codes, not names.

Children

Accounts are for people aged 18 and over.
